Will you get pulled over if a taillight is broken?
There are many different reasons one could get pulled over, but some things may seem harmless. A broken taillight is one of those. After all, how are you supposed to know that your taillight is broken? You can’t see it while you’re driving, and it’s not something most people think of checking on. The fact of the matter is that having a broken taillight can be one of those things that causes a wreck at some point. So will you get pulled over if a taillight is broken? Find out below!
If your taillight is broken, don’t be surprised if you get pulled over for it. Police are always on the prowl for safety violations, and a broken taillight is one of those. It makes it harder for others to see you, and if the other one burns out as well, it will be nearly impossible for oncoming drivers to see you from the back at night. However, just because you get pulled over for a broken taillight doesn’t mean you’ll get a ticket. While some police officers issue citations for broken taillights – which they can do, as it is technically illegal to drive with a broken taillight – most will probably just give you a warning and tell you to get it fixed as soon as you can.
If you notice that your taillight is out, don’t try to test the system. Get it changed as soon as possible to avoid the inconvenience of getting pulled over and possibly a ticket. Contact us here at Mercedes-Benz of Gilbert to learn more!
