How to get more for your trade-in

If you’re looking to trade your car in, you undoubtedly want the most you can get out of it. However, just because you have a nice vehicle doesn’t mean you’ll get a ton of value out of it. Dealerships are looking for something they can sell, and if you have something that is hard to sell you won’t get as much out of it. There are a few things you can do to increase the value of your trade-in. Take a look at some tips below!

This should go without saying, but the better maintained your vehicle has been, the more value it will have. A 2016 Mercedes-Benz SUV that has been well maintained and serviced regularly will fetch more than the same vehicle that missed service appointments or was driven erratically and irresponsibly.

Hold onto service documents

Along with having your vehicle maintained, you need to hold onto all the service documents you have. Not only does this provide proof that you had it serviced, but it also helps the dealership know what has been done and what needs to be done next. It also makes you look like a credible and responsible driver.

Benefits of driving a certified pre-owned Mercedes-Benz

Fix rust and scratches

While this may seem like a cosmetic thing, first appearances are everything. Rust can really drag the value of a vehicle down, so check out some DIY videos on how to clean off rust and buffer out scratches.

Wash and wax the car

Here’s another quick and easy thing you can do. If your car looks dirty, it will have less appeal than if it’s shiny and clean. This may not seem like a huge difference, but it’s quick, easy, and cheap to wash and wax a car, so why not try it out?

Maintain the interior

Be sure to clean out the interior and take care of any scratches or stains on the seats, on the door panels and dashboard, and any other blemishes you can fix.
