If you are a resident of Gilbert or any of the surrounding towns, you know how important the area veterans and their families are to our town. So important, in fact, that the Town of Gilbert has established a local chapter of “Operation Welcome Home”, a program that works to recognize those who served our country by throwing them a formal celebration when they return from active duty. Recently, the folks at Operation Welcome Home and Biltmore Golf Course hosted the 2nd annual Welcome Home Veterans Golf Classic to raise money for this amazing program. To show their support for the program, Mercedes-Benz of Gilbert participated as a sponsor of the event. Read more about the tournament below!

As a proud sponsor of Operation Welcome Home: Gilbert, AZ, we were happy to join those on the golf course to raise money for such a worthy cause. All proceeds from the golf tournament went towards the new Veterans Park that will be located right here in the town of Gilbert. Because of their dedication to showing support to veterans, Operation Welcome Home and the Town of Gilbert were awarded a 50th Anniversary of the Vietnam War Commemorative Partnership from the Department of Defense for the years 2015-2017. To honor that partnership, Operation Welcome Home plans to build a permanent, scaled version of the Vietnam wall that will provide an experience that integrates the reverence of a memorial, education of a museum, and breathing life of a park into one amazing landmark.
Those who are interested in learning more about the program can get in touch with the good people at Operation Welcome Home and the AZ Wall Project. If you would like to show your support for our local veterans, the Town of Gilbert will be honoring all those who served at the Gilbert Veteran’s Day Ceremony, held at 50 East Civic Center Drive.
