2020 Mercedes-Benz SL Roadster vs 2020 Porsche 911 Carrera

Mercedes-Benz is a name you can trust to deliver big results that beat out the competition in nearly all facets. Porsche, though, is certainly one of those brands that always puts up a good fight. After all, these aren’t two conventional automakers; these are two of the biggest, best performing automakers in the industry. In this comparison between the 2020 Mercedes-Benz SL Roadster vs 2020 Porsche 911 Carrera, you’ll get to see how two performance-enhanced roadsters stack up in terms of powertrain, technology, and comfort and convenience.

Performance is one area where the SL Roadster excels. It comes with an efficient and intelligent 9G-TRONIC® nine-speed transmission, which allows for more seamless gear changes and acceleration than the standard seven-speed manual found in the 911 Carrera. Take a look at some other specs and features below!

Highlights in the 2020 SL Roadster

The SL Roadster comes in a few different styles. From the table above you’ll see that the base SL 450 doesn’t have quite the same power output numbers that the 911 Carrera does. However, it’s worth noting that the 450 is the base trim for the SL Roadster and comes in with a noticeably lower price tag. If you want more power, you can upgrade to the SL 550 Roadster, which tops the competition with 449 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque. For the hardcore adrenaline junkie, we are anticipating the AMG® SL 63 Roadster to be released sometime soon. If it has the same performance numbers as last year, it will have 577 horsepower and 664 lb-ft of torque.

Luxury and comfort are important aspects of a roadster, and the SL Roadster has them. Each trim comes with an expansive variety of leather upholstery options to choose from as well as multiple trim options that include genuine wood, aluminum, or carbon fiber. Some of the other interior highlights include the DYNAMIC SELECT® driving mode selector, Bang & Olufsen® BeoSound™ system, 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot, multiple driver assistance features, and much more.
