Mercedes-Benz CPO Warranty: Coverage, Transfers & Terms | Gilbert, AZ
The Mercedes-Benz Certified Pre-Owned Limited Warranty is backed by Mercedes-Benz USA, not by the selling dealer. That distinction is the most important thing on this page: coverage is honored at any authorized Mercedes-Benz dealership in the United States, not only where you bought the car.
How long does the Mercedes-Benz CPO warranty last?
A Certified Pre-Owned Mercedes-Benz carries the remaining balance of the original 4-year/50,000-mile New Vehicle Limited Warranty. When that expires, the CPO Limited Warranty adds another 12 months with unlimited miles.
The unlimited-mileage part matters. Once you are into CPO coverage, how far you drive stops being the constraint.
Can I extend the CPO warranty?
Yes. Extended coverage is available for one or two additional years, also with unlimited miles. Whether that is worth buying depends on how long you plan to keep the car, and we will give you a straight answer rather than a pitch.
What has to happen for a car to be certified?
Every Certified Pre-Owned Mercedes-Benz must pass a 165+ point inspection performed by Mercedes-Benz-trained technicians, with any failing item repaired using genuine Mercedes-Benz parts before certification. A dealership cannot certify a car that fails.
One detail worth knowing: the 165+ point inspection applies to certain Certified Pre-Owned vehicles with internal combustion engines. Electric vehicles go through a different inspection built around their systems.
Which vehicles are eligible for Certified Pre-Owned?
To qualify, a Mercedes-Benz must be six model years or newer with fewer than 75,000 miles. Vehicles outside those limits can still be excellent used cars, but they cannot be certified.
Does CPO include roadside assistance?
Yes. Certified Pre-Owned includes 24/7 Personal Assistance with complimentary Roadside Assistance, covering jump-starts, tire changes and fuel delivery.
What happens if my car breaks down on a trip?
Trip interruption coverage applies when you are more than 100 miles from home, reimbursing up to $300 per day for three days toward lodging and meals while your vehicle is repaired.
For anyone driving to California, Colorado or Utah out of the East Valley, that is the benefit you hope never to use and are grateful for once.
What if I don’t like the car?
Certified Pre-Owned includes a 7 Days to Exchange provision, available within the first 500 miles. Few buyers use it. Knowing it exists changes how the purchase feels.
CPO or a used Mercedes with factory warranty remaining?
A late-model used Mercedes may still carry original factory warranty, which can look like equivalent protection for less money. The difference is what happens after that original coverage runs out.
Put concretely: a car with two years of factory warranty left protects you through year two. The same car certified protects you through year three with unlimited miles, and up to year five if you extend — plus it has been through the 165+ point inspection and reconditioned before sale.
Is Certified Pre-Owned worth the premium?
It depends how long you are keeping the car. Keeping it two years and selling, the premium is harder to justify. Keeping it four or more, or financing it, the coverage usually outweighs the difference — and a certified car with transferable coverage is easier to sell when you are done with it.
Where is CPO coverage honored?
At any authorized Mercedes-Benz dealership in the United States. Traveling or relocating does not affect your coverage.
