The Snowbird’s Guide to Buying a Mercedes-Benz in Arizona

Family-owned, eight-time Best of the Best, and built for the way you spend your winter.

You spend the winter here for a reason. The light is better. The roads are clear. The pace is exactly the right speed. Many of the people who own a home in the Valley October through April find, sometimes after a season or two of flying out and renting a car, that the simpler answer is a second vehicle that lives here, titled and registered however makes the most sense for their situation.

Mercedes-Benz of Gilbert has built a quiet specialty around that. We help snowbird families select the right Mercedes-Benz for the way they actually use it in Arizona, structure the purchase so the paperwork fits their life, and keep it serviced and ready for them every season.

Why Mercedes-Benz of Gilbert is the right partner for the snowbird season

Eight-time Mercedes-Benz Best of the Best

We’ve earned the Mercedes-Benz Best of the Best Award eight times — the highest national honor a Mercedes-Benz dealership can receive, awarded each year by Mercedes-Benz USA based on sales performance, service performance, customer satisfaction, brand standards, and dealership operations. For families splitting the year between two homes, the question of where to trust your vehicle matters. We’ve answered that question, every year.

Family-owned and family-run

Many of the major luxury dealerships in the Phoenix area are owned by national automotive groups. We are family-owned and family-run. Many of our Specialists have been here since the doors opened in September 2016 — September 2026 marks the ten-year anniversary. When you return to the Valley each fall, you’ll see the same friendly faces who helped you the season before.

Arizona’s largest Mercedes-Benz selection

We carry Arizona’s largest selection of new, Certified Pre-Owned, and pre-owned Mercedes-Benz vehicles. Whether you want a refined C-Class for around-Chandler driving, an E-Class for long days behind the wheel to Scottsdale, a GLC SUV for groceries and golf in San Tan, an EQS for quiet electric drives to Peoria, or an AMG® for the canyon roads near Tucson, we have it on the floor.

Conveniently located in Gilbert

We’re at 3455 S. Gilbert Road, Gilbert, AZ — the heart of the East Valley, with quick access from Chandler, Mesa, Queen Creek, San Tan Valley, Scottsdale, Paradise Valley, Fountain Hills, Arcadia, and the broader Phoenix metro area. Most snowbird homes in the East Valley are within a 25-minute drive.

Two pathways to the season

Pathway 1 — Buy your Arizona Mercedes-Benz here

Many snowbird families discover that the simplest answer is a second Mercedes-Benz that stays in Arizona year-round. The buying process is the same as for any other out-of-state buyer — see our full out-of-state buying program — but with some considerations specific to dual-residence buyers:

  • Titling. Depending on your state and your residency situation, you may title the vehicle in Arizona, in your home state, or in a snowbird-specific structure your CPA recommends. The MBG team has handled all three many times.
  • Sales tax. Generally, sales tax is paid in the state of registration. Some snowbird buyers register the vehicle in Arizona; others register at their primary residence. Both are common. See Arizona sales tax for non-residents.
  • Insurance. Most national insurance carriers handle dual-state Mercedes-Benz ownership routinely. We can recommend agents who specialize in the snowbird market if helpful.

A few specifics that make the season simpler:

  • Pre-arrival prep. Tell us when you land in the Valley and we’ll have any service, detailing, or readiness work complete before you arrive.
  • Pre-departure service. Before you leave for the summer, we’ll handle a final service, a wash, and any pre-departure inspections so the vehicle is ready for you when you return.
  • Year-round availability. We’re open Monday–Friday 8 AM – 9 PM, Saturday 8 AM – 7 PM, and Sunday 10 AM – 5 PM. Showroom and service are both open seven days a week.

Common questions from snowbird buyers

Should I register the vehicle in Arizona or in my home state? This depends on your residency situation, insurance, and tax goals — different families make different choices and both are common. Our team can talk through the pros and cons, and your CPA will confirm what’s best for your specific situation.

Can I buy the vehicle before I arrive in the Valley? Yes. Many snowbird buyers complete the purchase remotely from their summer home and have the vehicle ready when they fly in for the season. See our out-of-state buying program for the full process.

Can I service the vehicle here during the season? Yes. Our Service Center handles every Mercedes-Benz model. Schedule online or call (480) 466-0951.

Will Arizona heat affect my Mercedes-Benz? The factory service schedule doesn’t change for Arizona drivers, but a few items wear faster in the desert — tires, cabin filter, wiper blades, and the 12-volt battery. We monitor all four at every visit. Full answer

How do I qualify for financing? Approvals for snowbird buyers are routine. Full answer
