2027 G-Wagon: What’s New on the G 550, G 63 and G 580

Quick answer: The 2027 Mercedes-Benz G-Class, the “G-Wagon,” comes in the same three versions: the G 550, the Mercedes-AMG® G 63, and the all-electric G 580 with EQ Technology. The biggest changes are on the G 580: a new NACS charging port that works at Tesla Superchargers, faster DC charging, and more range, now 249 miles EPA-estimated. The G 550 and AMG® G 63 carry over with no major changes. Orders for the 2027 G 580 opened in September 2026.

What’s new for 2027

G 580 with EQ Technology

  • NACS charging port for DC fast charging, so the G 580 plugs straight into Tesla Superchargers and other NACS chargers. A separate J1772 port handles Level 2 charging at home or work.
  • Faster charging: 10 to 80 percent in about 29 minutes, down from 32, at up to 200 kW.
  • More range: 249 miles EPA-estimated, up from 239.
  • Better efficiency: 71 MPGe, up from 62.

Power is unchanged: four electric motors, one at each wheel, making about 579 horsepower and 859 lb-ft of torque, with 0 to 60 mph in about 4.6 seconds. Independent motor control still enables G-TURN, which can rotate the G in place on loose off-road surfaces.

G 550

The G 550 continues with its 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-six and mild-hybrid assistance, about 443 horsepower. It remains the most refined way to own a G, with the full luxury cabin and off-road hardware.

Mercedes-AMG® G 63

The AMG® G 63 keeps its handcrafted 4.0-liter V8 biturbo with mild-hybrid assistance, about 577 horsepower and 627 lb-ft of torque, paired with the AMG® 9-speed transmission.

Is there a 2027 G-Wagon Cabriolet?

Mercedes-Benz has confirmed a G-Class Cabriolet for the US, as a Mercedes-AMG® G 63 with the V8. US timing has not been announced. If you want to be first in line, tell us and we will contact you as soon as ordering details are released.
